What I mean by belonging comes from an old Celtic phrase Anam Cara which means soul-friend. “ originally referring to someone to whom you confessed, revealing the hidden intimacies of your life…This friendship was an act of recognition and belonging. “ (John O'Donohue) This class will be about friendship and the art of holding up a mirror to each others soul. With ritual, intimacy exercises, and conversation about sexuality and soul-friends. What might you ask, does this have to do with sexuality? Tenets of Sexuality themes are bigger than sexuality because I believe that sexuality is bigger than culture has made it to be. That it encapsulates deeper meaning and a way of being in the world. Friendship and belonging feel at the root of relating. Friendship and belonging are possibly the greatest gifts of life, and life giving things aid in our sexual expression, supporting our heart and bodies. My life would be empty without friendship. My sex and my sexuality would be lost without friendship. What if you could feel a sense of belonging for just a little while and this would help guide your way to the intimacy you crave in this life? Join us for Imbolc, for belonging, for soul-friend practices.
